Kobe Bryant Countersues to Keep High School Jerseys

Last week, we learned that Kobe Bryant's mom was trying to sell off her son's old Lower Merion jerseys, among other memorabilia, in the hopes of cashing out and moving to Nevada. Upon learning that his old stuff was being put on the block ("Mom! That's my stuff!"), Bryant filed a cease-and-desist letter, prompting the guy trying to sell the stuff on behalf of Bryant, West Berlin, NJ-based auctioneer Ken Goldin, to file a lawsuit.

Now, Kobe's counter-suing, claiming his mother knows very well that the jerseys aren't hers to sell.

On the day the suit was filed, Kobe Bryant says in

Weekly Standard Tries to Connect Kermit Gosnell and Allyson Schwartz

Exhibit A that conservatives will try to use Allyson Schwartz's past against her during her gubernatorial run. Today's headline in the Weekly Standard: "Did Pennsylvania Democrat Allyson Schwartz Send Women to Gosnell's House of Horrors?" (From '75-'88, Schwartz was director a reproductive rights clinic in Philadelphia affiliated with Planned Parenthood.) The Standard's answer? We have absolutely no idea, but we thought we'd go ahead and assume the worst.

A Planned Parenthood official denies that Blackwell ever referred mothers seeking abortions to take the 10-minute drive across town to Gosnell’s clinic, though she did not explain how she knew this. “We have

Kobe Bryant and His Mom Are Fighting Over His Lower Merion Jerseys

Kobe Bryant's mom wants to sell off a big collection of her son's old jerseys so she can buy herself a new home in Nevada. Kobe wants to keep the memorabilia for himself. And so they find themselves sparring in federal court in Camden. Pamela Bryant, you see, says her son gave her the items once, and now wants to sell them to a collectibles company, which would subsequently auction them off. (The West Berlin-based Goldin Auctions has already advanced her $450,000.) Kobe says it's his property and he doesn't want his maroon Lower Merion "33" on the back of

Parent Accuses Pottsgrove French Teacher of Not Knowing French

This is probably a story we can all relate to on some level--the high school foreign language teacher who seems suspiciously inept at speaking said foreign language. Pottsgrove dad Tony DiPaolo, who speaks French, Italian, and English, filed a complaint against the local school district, alleging that his kid was being taught by a fraud.

...When his son came home speaking his “mother tongue” incorrectly, DiPaolo did what most parents would do, he went to see the teacher. However, he decided to speak to the teacher only in French. “I was horrified to hear her struggle to form her sentences and

Born in Norristown (was she friends with Mike Piazza?), Bello attended Villanova University, and was great in A History of Violence. [Patch]

Daylin Leach Officially Running for Allyson Schwartz’s Seat

State Senator Daylin Leach (D-Duh)--fan of legalized pot, foe of genetically modified corn--is running for Allyson Schwartz's seat in Congress, assuming she runs for governor, which everybody does. (She hasn't technically declared, but as Leach's press guy put it, they're "putting two and two together.") Leach is the first candidate to declare for Schwartz's seat, which encompasses parts of Montgomery county and Northeast Philly. [Daily News]

Some Fan of Tom Corbett’s Creates Anti-Bruce Castor Website

Republican Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor, who's gearing up to Primary Tom Corbett, is being attacked by an anonymous new website that claims his fiscal conservatism is hooey. Tom Corbett's not mentioned on the site from an election standpoint, but somebody must really like him to be doing this. (Or be him!) Presenting: CastorWatch.

Since launching his exploratory campaign for governor, Bruce Castor has parroted the talking points used by many fiscal conservative, Tea Party affiliated candidates. However, his record on tax and spending issues betray his often repeated statements.Despite railing against the policies and decisions of his fellow county commissioners, Castor

Teacher at Pottstown’s Hill School Fired after Getting Drunk, Acting Creepy on School Trip

Ah, high school spring-break trips abroad. The only thing that could make life more unpleasant for a bored, hormonal pack of bratty teenage tourists in Italy is a creepy teacher, getting drunk and making weird remarks.

In a letter sent home Tuesday, Zach Lehman, headmaster of The Hill School [in Pottstown] said "a faculty member conducted himself on a recent Hill overseas trip in a manner that failed to adhere to our expectations regarding proper teacher-student boundaries and general faculty behavior."

Added headmaster Lehman:

"We determined that the teacher had been intoxicated and made inappropriate comments to some students. The teacher has acknowledged

Coming Soon to Montgomery County: Drone Warfare!

Drones might make everyone a little uncomfortable, but who cares if they bring jobs, right? Well, about 200 of them (jobs, not drones) are coming to Horsham, where the U.S. Air Force and the Pennsylvania National Guard are creating a "command center" from which the unmanned aerial vehicles will be controlled.

The base will conduct missions to fly Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs) or drones from thousands of miles away. No aircraft will actually fly out of the base. Pilots sit in virtual cockpits on the ground while flying missions ranging from bombing to reconnaissance. The center will be in charge of

Your Bread May Have Some Metal Wire in it, Says Bimbo Bakery

Horsham-based bakery Bimbo--AKA that suggestive brand that sponsors the otherwise wholesome Philadelphia Union--is recalling a bunch of its products, "because of the possible presence of flexible wire." Okay. If you live in PA or NJ, here are the products that you may have bought that may just ruin your PB & J.
