Richie Sambora Finally Strikes Back in Bon Jovi Catfight
Ever since Richie Sambora backed out of Bon Jovi's world tour, JBJ's been hinting that Sambora's personal (ahem, drug) issues are holding him back. He also basically called him replaceable, saying that his absence was "unlike if this were, God forbid, The Edge, and he for some reason couldn’t make a U2 show." (Though, somehow, he's "absolutely" the band's guitar player.)
Well, guess what? Richie has had enough. Speaking publicly about the feud (can we call it that?) for the first time, Sambora tells the Daily Mail, which cares, that in fact, "Jon wants to see if he can pull off stadiums
Diddy Was in Harrisburg Yesterday, Pimping His Vodka
Diddy, aka Sean Combs, is an official endorser of Ciroc vodka. Which explains why the erstwhile rapper was in nightlife, USA, yesterday meeting with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The entrepreneur, as he'd no doubt like to be called, was promoting soon-to-be released Ciroc Amaretto. The PLCB, which is trying to save off extinction, should publicize this appearance as much as possible. Because nothing says 'relevant' like an appearance by Diddy. Said a board spokeswoman: "He's very, very nice." [Patriot-News]
Watch Will Smith Spontaneously Rap ‘Summertime’ on Letterman
Will Smith was on Letterman promoting some movie last night when he launched into an impromptu rendition of his classic "Summertime," set to Kool & the Gang's "Summer Madness," which I totally didn't recognize as Kool & the Gang's "Summer Madness" until a colleague educated me.

Bieber Booed at Billboard Awards; Expresses Utter Disbelieb
Looks like the Justin Bieber backlash has finally gained critical mass:
In what was uncharted territory for the pop superstar – at industry award shows if not his concerts – Justin Bieber heard a chorus of boos as accepted the fan-voted milestone award at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.
"I'm 19 years old," he told the crowd in accepting the final award of the night. "I think I'm doing a pretty good job."
Those in the crowd said the negative response to Bieber was even louder in the arena than it sounded on television.
"This is not a gimmick," he went on to say, in
MMRBQ Photos: Man Boobs, Spandex Suits and John Bolaris
On Saturday, thousands of people turned out at Camden's Susquehanna Bank Center for the seventh annual MMRBQ, radio station WMMR's celebration of rock-and-roll, beer...and beer. Musical guests included Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and Cheap Trick, among others, and WMMR's top talent, including Pierre Robert and the Preston & Steve entourage, held down the fort. I decided to make the trip to see what all the fuss was about. Below, some observations.
John Bolaris Is Still In Philadelphia
Though he's been threatening to vacate the Philadelphia area, everybody's favorite weatherguy hasn't left yet. Here he is backstage getting an unsolicited kiss from some
Steve Martin Played Him Some Banjo in Philly Last Night
WXPN's 13th annual Non-COMMvention music festival kicked off last night with a performance from Steve Martin and Edie Brickell (Paul Simon's wife), who played songs from their new folk/Americana album "Love Has Come for You." It's easy to forget, but one of Martin's original shticks was getting up on stage with a banjo, mugging, and occasionally making some music. Here's audio of the performance, in which the tunes are interspersed with a few discursive semi-jokes.
If you want to see the banjo, but not hear it so much, see the vintage display below.

Diplo, Carl June Make Fast Company’s “100 Most Creative” List
Fast Company released its "100 Most Creative in Business" list today, and Philly makes a pretty good showing. Clocking in at #11 is Penn professor and cancer researcher Dr. Carl June, who has experienced remarkable success treating Leukemia patients using a disabled form of HIV. At #28 is Diplo, the D.J. and founder of the Mad Decent record label, who attended Temple. Finally, Tina Wells clocks in at #48. The Camden County native heads up Philly-based Buzz Marketing, which taps into the pulse of the "Millenial" generation to figure out what's, well, buzzing. Nate Silver, for the record, was numero
Local DJ Killed in South Street Haagen Dazs [Updated]
At 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, 36-year-old Tom Watson, aka "DJ Fenicx," was killed in side the Haagen Dazs on South Street. Watson, who had a standing gig at Tavern 222, and had performed at Copacabana in West Philly earlier that night, was unloading his gear into the shop, which he would pass through to reach his upstairs apartment. It was there that he was found dead, murdered in an apparent robbery attempt. [Inquirer]
Update [11:51 a.m.]: Contrary to earlier reports, police are saying the murder was related to the "large amounts" of marijuana and cocaine Watson had in his apartment, which
Video: The Best “Livin’ On A Prayer” Cover You Will Ever Hear
This is not only the best segment ever to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, but the best-ever rendition of "Living On A Prayer." Yeah, including the original. Here's the setup: Jay Leno does a segment where a fake news anchor surprises people pumping gas by appearing on a little TV and talking to them. In the latest edition, fake anchorman offers free gas to a guy if he does Karaoke. And Karaoke he does. Come for the Bon Jovi. Stay for the Eurythmics falsetto.
