Woman Sues Philly Over Alleged Stun Gun Miscarriage
A North Philly woman filed suit against the City of Philadelphia and three police offers, alleging that she was zapped with stun guns seven times during a 2010 incident and that, she says, resulted in a miscarriage. The suit states that the woman had left her children in her car while she ran inside to pick up some luggage. She claims that when she heard two people knocking on the car, she yelled at them and ran outside. After allegedly pushing her against a fence and choking her, the woman claims that a third officer showed up at the scene
Two Teens Shot Aboard SEPTA Broad Street Line Train
A 17-year-old and a 14-year-old were reportedly shot while on a train on the Broad Street Line that had stopped at the Susquehanna -Dauphin stop in North Philly. Both were brought to Temple University Hospital. The 14-year-old is reportedly in critical condition. A suspect—thought to be an accomplice of the shooter—is currently in police custody. Michael Vick Donation Will Revitalize Hunting Park Football Field
A dilapidated football field in Hunting Park is going to look a little nicer thanks to a $200,000 donation from the Team Vick Foundation. On Tuesday afternoon, the starting quarterback for the Birds, Fairmount Park Conservancy, and a slew of others will be on hand for a groundbreaking ceremony that will, eventually, result in Hunting Park's Team Vick Field. Another Water Main Breaks in Philly
It's North Philly's turn to deal with a water main break. The Philadelphia Fire Department responded to the 1800 block of North 4th Street on Friday morning to deal with another break. The size of the break and the extent of the flooding isn't immediately known, but the street is closed at the area. North 4th Street's 1800 block is between Cecil B. Moore and Berks. [Philly.com]
Bones Discovered in North Philly Demolition Site
A contractor unearthed bones on Tuesday at a demolition site in North Philadelphia. The remains were discovered as the contractor did work for the Department of Licenses and Inspections at a site on North 33rd in the city's Strawberry Mansion section. Investigators are working to determine if the bones are human. [Philly.com]

Teen Shot and Killed Near North Broad Station
A young man was killed Thursday afternoon in a shooting near the North Broad train station. Police are searching for two suspects after the man—in his late teens—was shot and wounded near Broad and Glenwood at about noon. He was transported to Temple University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. [CBS 3]
Malnourished Horses Found Roaming in North Philly
A woman who was on a cigarette break while working at a homeless shelter in North Philly noticed two malnourished horses roaming the area when one nudged her. Police came and corralled the horses at 7th and Diamond after the woman called 9-1-1 and now investigators and animal welfare officials are looking for the horses owner. [Philly.com]
It’s Not Even Noon and Two People Have Already Been Murdered in Philly Today
It's not even noon yet and two people have already been shot to death in Philly today. The first was an overnight shooting that had a 23-year-old man pronounced dead at 3:35 a.m. at Temple University Hospital. The second victim was a 36-year-old man that was gunned down at 39th and Haverford in an unrelated shooting around 9:30 a.m. [Philly.com]
