Why Are You Still Smoking Pot?
Stuff a bunch of ground-up weed into a metal tube, run some clean butane gas through, evaporate the solution from the resulting mixture, and what's left? A marijuana concentrate known as hash oil, and if the Internet is any indicator of where we’re going with drugs (it is), then this is what my children will be hiding from me in their sock drawers come parenthood.
Watch a Bunch of Pot Smokers Commit a Federal Crime on Independence Mall
On Sunday, a large group of pot activists assembled on Independence Mall to give a middle-finger to an apparently apathetic U.S. federal government. A video was posted today documenting the collective joint hit, which went unpunished by the National Park Service. Philly's got relatively lenient pot laws, but the U.S. government doesn't, and they were protesting on federal property. And yet, after they had lit up, and the cloud of smoke had dissipated, no one had been arrested. One activist with a video camera even marched over to confront the park ranger, and seemed disappointed to get indifference. No word
How 3-D Printers Can End the War on Drugs
Few things demonstrate stoner ingenuity better than the homemade bong. It's an open-ended problem, requiring only the bare minimum of materials. So long as it holds water and you can put weed somewhere, it'll work, be it a water bottle or watermelon. Older readers will remember the ol' crushed-and-perforated-can trick, no doubt a savior at many a Bad Company concert. Now, though, THC-fueled creativity is entering the 21st century with a bit of help from the most promising technology to develop since the Internet: 3-D printing.
Pennsylvania Senator Daylin Leach Introduces Marijuana Legalization Bill In Harrisburg
Psst, Pennsylvania residents: wanna add something like $10 million onto our annual revenue this year? Then maybe we should do like Detroit and get our state some legal weed. And now, our chance has come (again). Every stoner’s favorite Senator, Daylin Leach of Delaware and Montgomery Counties, today officially introduced his brand of statewide marijuana legalization into the hallowed halls of state government in Harrisburg. This bill comes just a year after Leach saw two similar motions die in committee at the end of last legislative session. So put down the pipe, holler at your representative, and let’s enjoy some
Will Pennsylvania See Legal Marijuana in 2013?
Back in the '70s, former Pennsylvania Governor Raymond Shafer’s national commission on marijuana ultimately recommended the decriminalization of pot with reams of scientific evidence. President Nixon ignored those findings, thereby throwing the U.S. into our decades-long War on Drugs.
New Jersey’s First Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens Today
After a three-year battle with the Christie Administration, New Jersey patients will have their first legal tokes of medical marijuana today with the opening of Greenleaf Compassion Center. Great news, sure, but don't expect any enormous residual weed smoke clouds to make their way across the bridge just yet–the dispensary is only scheduled to see 20 patients today, and each can only buy a half ounce of pot a month (two legally, there just isn't enough to go around). Initially, Greenleaf planned to open in September, but with medical weed, it's better late than never. [Newsworks]
Marijuana Is Winning
For marijuana activists, Tuesday’s election was much like an overnight success literally decades in the making. Let’s take a tally: Two states legalized cannabis for recreational use, another for medical, and still another came out strong on the decriminalization front in three cities. Where pot measures failed, they failed only marginally.
Supreme Court Could Set the Dogs on Your House
Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case that could have a profound effect on how far the government can stick its nose into your business. And I mean that literally.
Jury Finds NJ Weedman Not Guilty
NJ Weedman ate pot cookies as he explained his case to a jury on Thursday morning. Later in the day, that same jury unanimously found him not guilty of possession of one pound of pot with intent to distribute. Police picked up NJ Weedman on April Fool's Day back in 2010 and found the pound of marijuana in the trunk of his car. Weedman maintains that the drugs were solely for his personal use. He uses the drug to suppress pain brought on by his deep bone tumors. NJ Weedman asked if he could have his pot back, but the
