Not that you need a good reason to have a drink after work today, but I’ve got one for you anyway: Bar AIDS. Basically, you go out for a cocktail tonight and a portion of your money goes to four local AIDS causes, including the Mazzoni Center and Action AIDS. Participating bars include comfortable gay spots like the Westbury and Tavern on Camac (bonus: piano bar!) as well as few gay-friendly bars like Fergie’s, Nineteen, and City Tap House.
Also, remember Marah, the Philly band that the alt-weeklies couldn’t get enough of back in the 90s? Well, they’re back in one form or another and playing JB’s tonight in support of their recently released Life Is a Problem, which was recorded in an old Amish farmhouse and is available digitally and – get this – on cassette. They go on around 9:30 p.m., and admission is $15.
