Not to be Mr. Obvious, but brrrrrrrrrr. This is fire, cognac, and bearskin rug weather, but if you actually want to head out into the elements, a few suggestions… Queer Canadian troubadour Rufus Wainwright brings his new tour to Wilmington’s Grand, and he’s gone a little out of his mind, based on the following admonition from his website: “The first part of the program will be performed as a song cycle with visuals by Douglas Gordon. During the first set, Rufus has asked that you please do not applaud until after he has left the stage. His exit is part of the piece …” Okay, so I don’t have to applaud for Rufus Wainwright? I think I can handle that. Speaking of snark, Pabst presents the 2010 Philebrity Awards and Non-Denominational, Totally Secular Christmas Pageant at the Troc, and it’s free. For a touch of class, join the Academy of Vocal Arts for an Evening of Russian Romances. And if you need something to wash all this down, head to Dock Street, where they’ll be celebrating the release of the barrel-aged Prince Myshkin Imperial Stout. Need more motivation? There will be free cheese from DiBruno Bros.
