Philly’s 2012 Murder Rate is Outrageous

New year, same ol’ Killadelphia. There have been 12 murders in the city since the ball dropped and the curtain closed on 2011. In the first 10 days of 2011, only five people were killed. In ’07—a year that saw 391 murders in Philly—15 people were killed by January 10th. The first week and change of 2012 has been worse than “more of the same” for Mayor Michael Nutter and Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, both of whom have committed to ushering in an era of peace in Philly.
